SKILLS BOOTCAMPS is a National £3bn Government initiative designed to close the skills gap in the UK in sectors that are experiencing growth and for individuals that experienced a lack of job opportunities as a result of reduced social mobility created by the disruption that coronavirus caused to job opportunities in defined sectors and businesses.

Government Funded Skills Bootcamps are free to individuals and a great way for those looking to further enhance their skills, wanting a career change and those not currently in work, to gain knowledge and experience which will be increasingly vital over the next few years.

Skills Bootcamps are for individuals with the right to work and live in England.

Bootcamps are aimed at developing Level 3 skills and for construction can include fully funded qualification-based Level 2 courses including appropriate Level 1 qualifications. They are developed in partnership with local employers, delivered by O.S.A.T Ltd and supported by Local Authorities to help fill skills gaps and vacancies in your local area and help deliver Section 106 development requirements.

Our courses are designed with employers around the skills they need and are all taught with expert tuition and outstanding learning content.

O.S.A.T Ltd courses will be delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face classroom delivery. For the practical work experience placement, you will be assigned an opportunity as close as possible to your area of interest, and you will work to a bespoke programme, gaining valuable experience in this area, with the potential of progression into paid work.

Construction Bootcamp With O.S.A.T Ltd:

How is a Skills Bootcamp Structured?

There are several component parts of the training some of which will include accredited qualifications such as:
  • L1 award in chosen option
  • L1 short accredited course
  • L1 award in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development
  • Employer led masterclass which might be delivered using SMART technology (e.g. mobile phone)
  • Working with a partner organisation to help you embed your new learning into a CV

Level 1 Award in H&S in a Construction Environment

The course will be delivered through a video learning system called Video tile. Login details will be sent to your registered email with instructions. There will be tutor support if you require further guidance. You will have 2 days to complete the online training before having a face to face session prior to taking the exam.

NOCN Level 1 Award in Basic Construction Skills (including Level 2 Unit)

This qualification will be in 2 parts with part one covering the theory, which will involve lectures, discussions and research. The end product for assessment will be a work booklet.  The second part is practical which will include preparing and painting assessed by a portfolio of evidence including photos and write ups.

Work Experience

This element will last around 2 weeks and will be live work with a chosen employer. It will include Employability and personal development. This course will develop the soft skills required to help gain employment.

CSCS Training and Test

This will be a day’s training and will include the test which when passed together with the L1 Award in H&S in a construction environment will enable you to get a basic CSCS card.
